Feature Facial
Religion as a crutch.
June 11, 2004
Have you heard about the court ruling in Florida against the Muslim woman who refuses to lift her veil for her driver's license photograph?  Click here for the details.

I have a question about this situation.  What the fuck is she thinking!?  I appreciate that she's attempting to be a devout follower of her religion, but this is ridiculous.  Common sense should overrule religious beliefs in circumstances like this.  Every time.  Of course, her lawyer and her husband stated (because she won't speak for herself) that they are appealing the ruling.  These fools are proving themselves retarded for trying to appeal it, and the lawyer is acting unconscionably.  Lawyers who willingly push cases like this make me sick.  Hey, Mr. Fancy Pants Lawyer!  You lost!  There's no need to appeal.  Drop it and move on, pussy.

It got me thinking.  Maybe I'll head down to the DMV and get a new photo taken while wearing a ski mask.  What the hell, right?  If this crazy psycho woman thinks it's her right to cover her face with a veil for her photo ID, then I figure it's my right to cover my face with a wooly cap.  When I'm arrested for knocking over a gas station the police will be able to match me to my ID.

The most interesting tidbit comes in the last paragraph of the story I linked above.  In a prior, unrelated incident, "she and her husband cited religious reasons for hindering child welfare workers who tried to look for bruises on two twin girls Freeman and her husband were fostering."  This is a married couple that is blatantly trying to hide behind their religion.  That shit pisses me right off.  Practicing religion is one thing, using it as a crutch to do whatever you feel like regardless of laws and in spite of common sense is something else.  These clowns should feel grateful I'm not ninja kicking their candy asses all over town.
