Feature Red Sox win the World Series.
Did anyone notice?
October 28, 2004

Red Sox According to inside sources, the Boston Red Sox won the World Series of professional baseball yesterday.  Which got this reporter wondering, is it really a "world" series?  Do teams from Europe and Africa compete for a chance to play in this alleged "world" series?  I think not.  Upon sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals in four games, a collective yawn could be heard across the nation.  With the exception of Boston residents, most people seemed unaware the baseball championship competition was under way.

Fantasy football team owner and league commissioner Ernie Horne said, "Huh?  Baseball?  Do they still play that?"  While Boston's own Jimmy Fallon responded with "The curse is over!  What a great year for Red Sox fans!"  To which fantasy football guru and champion Jess Holavarri replied, "Is Randy Moss probable or questionable?  Oh, and umm ... baseball is for pussies."

Allegedly, the Red Sox broke an 86 year old curse which prevented them from winning the World Series during that span.  Oakland's Mike McInerney (known to locals as McMike) commented, "Curse? That's funny, I just thought they sucked."

Controversy is high regarding the fate of the supposed curse.  Has the curse been sent packing for good or simply handed off to another team?  If another team is now cursed, which team is it?  Some observers believe it is the New York Yankees, who lost four straight games to the Red Sox in the American League Championship Series.  While others feel it becomes a monkey on the back of the St. Louis Cardinals.  Such are the questions keeping Ben Affleck up late at night.

More on this breaking story as the details become known.
