Okay, I'll admit that the ending of A.I. is a little ... ummmm ... unusual. But for me, that doesn't ruin the entire film. On the contrary, I think it's one of the top ten films of 2001.
Teddy alone is reason enough to like this movie. Throw in a wonderfully creepy performance by Osment, a star-making turn by Jude Law, some very well-done visual effects, and you've got yourself one fine film.
After seeing A.I. the weekend it opened, the next couple weeks' worth of movie conversation were dominated by debate of different aspects of this film: when should the movie have ended, why did the mother activate the robot, on and on it went. Any film that can stir up such spirited discussion must be doing something right. So I'll concede that you may hate this movie, or you may love it, or maybe you feel indifferent towards it. Whatever your opinion is, it's definitely a must-see film.
