Almost Famous is a semi-autobiographical story by Crowe.  It's an unusual topic that makes the movie interesting because it's not every day that a high school kid gets a chance to write for Rolling Stone magazine.  Or maybe it is, what do I know.

Anyway, unlike Hedwig and the Angy Inch this is a movie featuring rock and roll that captures the spirit of rock and roll.  The band seems authentic, and the events seem realistic.  The audience gets to go on tour with the band, with the teenage reporter asking all the questions for us and navigating our way through the 1970's scene.

I particularly liked the acting of the four names mentioned above.  Hudson almost won an Oscar, Fugit is perfectly cast, and Crudup and Lee are the soul of the fictitious band and the film.  Lee is very charismatic, I haven't seen him in a film where I didn't like his performance.  And Crudup could explode into a huge movie star if he wanted to, but I get the feeling he prefers nuanced character roles, which is fine with me, we need more actors like him willing to take on interesting roles.

Very brief nudity, but that's better than nothing.
