Erin Brockovich seems to revolve around Julia Roberts and how hot she supposedly is. Am I the only person alive who finds her unattractive and annoying? She is continually sold to us as being a sexy movie star, yet there is nothing sexual about her, she usually comes across as kind of a dorky teenager, which is fine for other roles, but not this one. They squash her breasts together to create the illusion of cleavage in the interest of accurately portraying the character. Yeah, right. If you're going to flaunt an actress' body, at least cast an actress who's body we might be interested in seeing. However, I will admit that she is a good actress and gives a very good performance in this film.
It's an interesting tale about a corrupt power company that I can't help but compare to A Civil Action (which is a better film, in my opinion). There are some funny moments, but many of them have turned unfunny to me in retrospect because they involve insults thrown at other characters. Insults in a movie like South Park are one thing, insults in a drama that has a serious story to tell sends a negative message about how to deal with people in real life situations.
Criticisms aside, there is a compelling story mixed in there that deserved to be told, and Soderbergh knows how to tell compelling stories.

I suspect that how much someone likes this movie is in direct proportion to how much they like Julia Roberts.
