Comedy and horror can work together, but not when the horror isn't scary and the comedy isn't funny. An American Werewolf in London is an example of comedic horror that works great. Evil Dead II is too silly to be funny, and too cartoonish to be scary. Still, it's clever and the "effects" are funny.
The enjoyment is fleeting though. Little moments made me smile, like the references to Poltergeist and Psycho, but those types of moments are not sustained. And how many times do we have to see the house shaking apart, windows breaking, weird noises. I got the point the first time. Thankfully it's only an hour and a half long, so it's endurable, and it has a few very memorable moments.

I like the scene where Ash's hand drags Ash across the floor.
