From Hell disappoints me.  I'm into the subject matter, i'm a fan of horror films, I love great imagery, I like Johnny Depp and Heather Graham, I was prepared to really like this movie.  It just doesn't give me reason to like it.  it's not scary or suspensful, the story is contrived and unconvincing, and it didn't really win me over.  I have a hard time accepting a film that revolves around true events, and presents a theory on those events, but does not display any real evidence to support the theory.  And that's exactly what From Hell does.  London may have never looked so good on film, but empty imagery alone can't carry a movie.

I have a complaint about Inspector Abberline.  In terms of this film, what is the point of showing his drug-induced visions?  They don't advance the plot, and have almost nothing to do with the story.  I just don't get it, maybe I need someone smarter than myself (no such person) to explain it to me.  And while they're at it, they can explain to me why the Hughes brothers squandered this chance to make a really great film.
