Strange thing about this movie. I know Jones and Del Toro are good actors, and I know Friedkin is a good director (he directed The Exorcist for christ's sake), yet somehow this movie sucks. Maybe because it's such a blantant ripoff of First Blood (a much better film), maybe the talent involved has lost their talent. I dunno, but The Hunted is bad.
The dialog is cliched and poorly delivered, the fight sequences feel as choreographed as a Matrix movie, and ultimately, I just didn't care about the fates of the characters in the film. Single worst moment: Jones' character storms into a bar asking who the owner is of a wolf trap he found in the forest. The guy speaks up and Jones promptly wraps the wire trap around his neck and violently slams the guy's head into the table. In the rest of the film, it's said that Jones's character is morally opposed to war and killing. A peace-loving man who happens to train special forces units to track and kill, and has no qualms about roughing up trappers? Whatever.

During the knife fights, just how much blood does one person have? Seemingly every knife swipe hits an artery as evidenced by the spurting blood that accompanies the cut. Granted, these guys are trained and supposed to be able to hit the vital points with their knives, but come on, how many critical cuts can a man sustain?

"Knife fighting is my specialty. I would mop up those losers in seconds."
