The Two Towers is a great action film. But isn't The Lord of the Rings supposed to be more than just an action film? Isn't it supposed to be a study of race relations, politics, and technology? And above all, isn't it supposed to revolve around beloved characters whom legions of fans love and cherish? Where's the character development? After watching 6 hours of this franchise, I can't tell you which one is Merry and which Pippen. In The Two Towers, the only character that really gets developed is Gollum.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy these movies and appreciate the technical achievements, but I don't understand why so many people rave about these films. Yeah, they're pretty good, but they're not the best films EVER, as some would have you believe.
