The Majestic.  In plain words, this movie is boring.  There are a few scenes that I enjoyed, but mostly I just kept waiting for the next scene to begin, because the one I was watching just would not move on.

Jim Carrey is the right casting choice for the lead, he does a pretty good job in this type of Capra inspired role.  But I'm still waiting for Carrey to take that one big role that will redefine his career, like Tom Hanks with Philadelphia.  I know Carrey has it in him, he came very close with The Truman Show.

This is the second movie in a row from Frank Darabont that I didn't care for (The Green Mile being the other one).  Which is a shame, because I think The Shawshank Redemption is brilliant, so I know Darabont has talent, I just haven't liked his choice of scripts since then.

I'm sure if you were alive and kicking in the 50's and can recall how McCarthyism affected America and can feel sentimental about World War II, the film will resonate better with you.  But for the rest of us it kind of re-introduces themes that have been covered better by other films.
