I had low expectations for Men in Black going into it, but I was pleasantly surprised by the high volume of entertainment value. It's funny, with a unique story, excellent visual effects and good action sequences. Most importantly, it's funny. I mean truly funny, clever and original humor carries the film, it's great stuff.
Vincent D'Onofrio is the ultimate character actor, here he plays an oozing, tentacled "worm" that wears a human suit for most of the film. Will Smith becomes a movie star. Between this and Independence Day, he owns the comedy-alien genre. Tommy Lee Jones is the perfect straight-man for bumping up against Smith. Tony Shalhoub plays an alien too, his scenes are unforgettable. Men in Black looks and sounds fun all the way through. The actors (and CGI aliens) appear to be having a ball. Great summertime fun.
