Honestly, who doesn't like Mr. Mom.  It's a classic, my friends.  No surprise it was written by John Hughes -- the king of 1980s comedy -- who also wrote Uncle Buck, Vacation, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Breakfast Club, and Planes, Trains & Automobiles.  That list includes many of the best comedies of that decade.

If you haven't seen it, the concept is Dad gets laid off, so Mom goes to work while Dad stays home with the kids.  Outdated concept, you say?  In this day and age the movie won't be funny because it's a common occurrence, you say?  Yeah, I suppose you're right.  This concept would fall flat with today's enlightened audience (Daddy Day Care grossed an embarrassing $104 million).

I see how this film could be considered dated.  Because all comedies are currently required to make light of black folks and/or hip-hop culture at every opportunity (see Malibu's Most Wanted or Bringing Down the House).  You won't find a jive talking white guy strapped with nines or a big-booty ho who loves her some bling-bling in Mr. Mom.  Nor will you be forced to witness anti-comedy by the likes of Rob Schneider or Chris Kattan (see The Hot Chick or Corky Romano).  You see, Mr. Mom is actually funny!  What a concept!

Back in the day, Ann Jillian was a nice piece of ass.  "You got two pair.  You got plenty."  She makes a pretty tempting bad-girl neighbor.  Teri Garr wasn't bad either.

Anywho ... Mr. Mom is funny and smart.  The best part is the amazing number of quotable lines.  From "You fed the baby chili?" to "Scotch?"  And personally, I love the scene where Keaton answers the phone by ripping the handset and cord from the phone.

Best line?  "Yeah, 220, 221, whatever it takes."
