The big story here is Jamie Foxx's performance as the titular character. I'll be damned if I didn't believe I was watching Ray Charles himself for the duration of this film. Up to now, I haven't been the biggest Foxx fan, I thought he was pedestrian in Ali and slightly better in Collateral. But he's excellent in this picture. When it comes down to it, that's a very good, and important, thing for the movie. Once you accept an actor in the role of a famous person, you can concentrate on the story. I can see why he's the front-runner for the Oscar.
As for the film, I enjoyed it. It was entertaining.
