I like The Recruit. It's a spy movie, not a James Bond spectacle, just a small-scale spy movie. If you're expecting a large-scale international double-spy double-cross, then you'll be disappointed. Frankly, I wasn't expecting anything from this movie, so I was entertained the whole time.
Granted, at times I was entertained by the ridiculousness of the supposed CIA technology and/or techniques, but entertained nonetheless. So what if they pulled out the "bad guy explains all before killing good guy" card. It's not that horrible of a card to pull, is it? Pacino and Farrell are great in their roles, which is really what drives the film. Lesser actors would have made for a much lesser picture.
