I had fairly low expectations for this movie. After all, I had seen Wahlberg try to sing rock songs in Boogie Nights to hilarious end. Despite expectations, I rather quite enjoyed it.
Rock Star is a fun little movie. It doesn't have a big important message to convey, nor does it have the stuff that brings in Oscar trophies. There are no curve balls, it comes straight down the pipe. But it's fun. It's entertaining and somewhat original. It covers some of the same ground as Almost Famous, but doesn't take itself as seriously as the Cameron Crowe film.
I'd recommend it on a pure entertainment level. It builds excitement for anyone who has ever fantasized about being a star. It pulls the audience through the struggle to reach that stardom, and the difficulty in handling it once you're there. The relationship between Wahlberg and Aniston feels real enough that we actually care about them, and want them to stay together through it all.

Aniston's mesh dress. There's a couple good shots of her boobs and butt.

"Damn! There are some hot lookin' bimbos in that movie."
