Scary Movie is a spoof in the Airplane! tradition, where silliness runs rampant, and not a single shot or sentence of dialog exists that doesn't attempt some sort of gag. Unlike the classic Airplane!, though, Scary Movie is only funny about half the time. There are some really great jokes, and some really dumb ones too.
Not just slapstick and funny ha-ha laughs, this movie also contains gross-out humor. The latest "comedy" trend seems to be jokes about dick, pussy, ass, and cum. I'm a fan of good comedy, and sometimes this stuff is funny, but mostly it just adds shock value, which ultimately is not funny. No matter, Scary Movie is good for a laugh and that's fine. But it's dumb comedy, not smart comedy. It's smart comedy that stands the test of time, so this Scary Movie will probably be long forgotten at some point.

I hate to say it, but Shawn Wayans' character is pretty funny.
