The Station Agent is all about character. Peter Dinklage plays a reclusive dwarf who is sensitive about, yet accepting of, other people's reactions to his height. Bobby Cannavale plays an exuberantly talkative guy who is simply interested in making friends, incapable of taking no for an answer. Patricia Clarkson plays a grieving mom/wife who likes her new friends but is racked with guilt over the death of her child and dissolution of her marriage. Most of the picture revolves around the interactions of these three people as they become friends.
Certainly unique, The Station Agent is a film you won't soon forget, filled with memorable scenes. Like when Clarkson twice almost runs over Dinklage in her car. Or when Cannavale promises to keep quiet while Dinklage reads. As a character study, it's interesting stuff.
