My friends saw Unbreakable before I did. They said it was too slow; they said it was too self-important; they said Shyamalan grew a big head after The Sixth Sense and tried to recreate the success of it. Maybe they're right, but so what? Who are they to judge? Do they have a website dedicated to reviewing movies? I don't think so!
Unbreakable is an excellent film. It's entertaining, well-acted, and well-directed; I have no complaints about this picture. And when I consider the other movies released to theatres in 2000, I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be an Oscar contender (at least in a few categories). Especially the sound design, which is extraordinary. When Sam Jackson takes a tumble, you can feel his pain through the sound.
I suppose I could mention that I'm a comic book fan and endure arguments that I only liked this movie because of that fact; on the other hand, crocoWife liked Unbreakable as much as I did, and she never read comic books. I fully enjoyed the characters, the story, and the "twist" ending. It's not even really a twist ending, more of an explanation for the film's events. I highly recommend this film and can't wait for the rumored sequels.

I dunno, everything ... watch the details.

"If you're going to be a superhero, at least get a decent costume."
